Giovanni Bassi

Giovanni Bassi (1968) graduated in 1995 in architectural design at the Politecnico di Milano, where he immediately began teaching as tutor in the architectural design studio led by Massimo Fortis.

 

He developed different relationships with various Milanese architectural firms dealing with different project’s typologies: from architectural design (residential buildings)  to the detail of the interior design, with an important parenthesis in the field of installation.

 

In 2003, together with Matteo Vischioni, he opened the “Costruzioni Italiane¡” studio with which, until 2014, he developed numerous projects at various scales, carrying out interventions in the Milanese urban context and participating in various national and international competitions.

 

In 2015 he left “Costruzioni Italiane”  and opened his own studio in Milan where he continued his business, addressing in particular reuse and renovation projects at different scales and destinations.

 

In 2020 he is co-founder of ArcipelagoArchitects with Giulio Cucciniello and Andrea Liverani.

From 2004 to 2014 he was contract lecturer at the Faculty of Civil Architecture of the Politecnico di Milano. The teaching leads him to deepen themes related to the architectural project related to the representation and the role of the constructive and detailed component in the definition of the architectural language.

 

Since 2015 he has been a lecturer in architectural design in the architectural design studio 2 at the Faculty of urban architecture and construction engineering at the Politecnico di Milano.

Giulio Cucciniello

Giulio Cucciniello (1980), in 2002 is “deserving student” in the research and teaching program of the Facoltà di Architettura di Napoli for a semester study at École Nationale Supérieure d’Architecture Paris-Malaquais.

 

In 2007 he graduated cum laude in Architettura with Nicola Pagliara at the Università Federico II di Napoli.

In 2004, while still a student, he began a working relationship in Avellino at Petracca Associati.

 

In 2008 he won 1th prize at the INARCHLAB 08, international design workshop of the Istituto Nazionale di Architettura ed Urbanistica (IN/ARCH).

 

In 2013, as a young professional, with Michaelides Associati of Milan he won the competition for the construction of the new Amiacque headquarters in Magenta (MI) and moved to Milan.

 

In 2015, in collaboration with Michaelides Associati, he works at Expo 2015 taking part in the construction of Palazzo Italia and the Cardo buildings.

 

In 2017 he began his autonomous activity in Milan, planning several renovations of private homes.

 

In 2019 with Andrea Liverani he won 4th prize in the competition for the Cavalcaselle School Complex in Legnago (VR).

 

In 2020 he is co-founder of ArcipelagoArchitects with Giovanni Bassi, Andrea Liverani.

Andrea Liverani

Andrea Liverani (1969) graduated in architecture from Politecnico di Milano, Master UPC Barcelona, studied also at Facultade de Arquitectura do Porto. He worked in Spain and Portugal, from 1999 to 2018, as associate architect in Liverani/Molteni Architetti.

 

From 2018 founder of “liveraniandrea” architecture and design studio based in Milano, from 2020 co-founder of ArcipelagoArchitects  with Giovanni Bassi and Giulio Cucciniello.

 

Andrea Liverani  took  part in around 100 international architecture competitions, earning 23 awards, including a First Prize for EXPO 2015 service buildings, the “Cittadella dell’Edilizia” in Como, the new Town Hall in Seregno, the School Complex in Capiago and the Bruennen-Nord neighborhood in Bern (Switzerland).

 

Other prize include: Brunner school complex in Bern, Europan7- Monza, Architectural Foundation Headquarters in London, ETH student housing in Zurich and the AIM headquarters in Mendrisio (Switzerland).

 

Out of the 50 projects entrusted to him, twenty have been implemented in Italy and abroad.

 

The most significant works include the park and dog kennels in Monza, House for a Director, ST house,  Twin houses in Seul, Office building SS36,  Iper-Brianza residential neighborhood, Rain-Hail Resort in Puket.

 

Acknowledgements of his work include: “IN/ARCH National Award” 2005, “Arches Award  2004 – 2006”, “Piranesi Award 2004” and Architecture Award from the Accademia Nazionale di San Luca in 2006.

 

His works was nominated for the 2010 BSI Award, the 2012 Gold Medal for Italian Architecture, and the 2013 BigMat International Architecture Award. “House for a Director” received a mention at the 2013 Architectural Review House Awards.

 

He took part in the 10th Venice Architecture Biennale in 2006 with the project “La città-fabbrica” in the Italian Pavilion, in the European ‘Wonderland’ exhibition in 2004-08 and in the “100 Architects of the Year”exhibition in Seoul in 2015 and 2017. Over the years, some of his projects and works have been published in magazines and books, both in Italy and abroad.
